If you've found your way to this page, maybe you're curious about Vining Lutheran. Maybe you're curious about church in general, or thinking about coming back after a long time away. Whatever brought you here — I'm glad you came.

Let me tell you what you won't find on a Sunday morning: a dress code, a membership quiz, or anyone keeping score. We're a small congregation in a small town, and we've learned over 154 years that the door works best when it's open all the way.

What you will find is ordinary people — farmers and teachers, retirees and young families — gathered around an extraordinary promise: that God's grace doesn't depend on us having it all figured out. We sing, we pray, we hear the Word. Most Sundays it ends with coffee and something somebody baked, and honestly, that part matters more than you'd think.

If you'd like a feel for who we are before you visit, every Tuesday I post the coming Sunday's scripture along with a short reflection on our Living with the Word page. It's the same conversation we'll be having on Sunday morning — and you're welcome to join it early. Come when you can. Bring your questions and your doubts; there's room here for all of it.
