Dear friend,

People often talk about their “church home.” That can mean many different things. As a pastor, I hope it means that you find Vining Lutheran to be a place of welcome, a refuge, and a way you are encouraged and strengthened for the life of faith. We hope this website becomes a connection for you that makes this place a “church home” in all of these ways.

My wife, Stephanie, and I have known this area for many years (she longer than me). What a joy it is for me, and for us, that our ministry journey has now landed in Vining and on Stuart Lake. In the short time I have served here at Vining, I have discovered this place to be a “church home” for me in the ways described above. As your pastor, it is my prayer that you find a home here.

There is one thing at the center of it all. When we gather together on a Sunday morning around the Living Word, the Holy Spirit goes to work on us. Some have called the church the “workshop of the Holy Spirit.” But God’s Word is active every day of our lives. To that end, and along with your devotional life, I hope you will regularly visit the part of this website called Living with the Word. It will help you reflect on the Word preached the Sunday before and prepare you for the Word coming. It is a good way for us to be united around Jesus and his Living Word!
